Goodbye Y. W.'s, for now...

Well, I was released from Young Women's last Sunday. I am still pretty bummed, because I miss those girls already, especially my own daughters, although I am happy to say that they were bummed out too. I still have 2 more daughter's who aren't old enough to go in yet, and I think I'll get to have the opportunity to serve there again some day. Anyway, I don't have time to bum because I was called as our Ward's activities committee chairperson, so for now I will be trying to make the ward's activities SPECTACULAR! or at least fun. I am feeling a little worried (shocking), that it IS a lot of responsibility. So far my plan is to focus on quality, not quantity, I'm not really diggin the Pot luck's so much...I did suggest upping the tithing a little for our budget, maybe we could go on a Church Lady Cruise! Needless to say; I don't think THAT'S happenin', so we'll have to settle for Camp Out's, and Ice cream/Chili cook off's. But I do think Loren is going to do better in this year's Ice Cream contest. The picture is of Porter at last year's ward campout, it was a little rough.

Happy 38th Babe!

This is for my cool husband on his Birthday. I have some great ideas for this post but I'll have to finish it tomorrow.(at least I started it on your B-day!) Okay, to celebrate Loren's birthday we took the kids bowling, it's been a long time since I did that, like the 80's. Loren actually got some strikes and some spares, of course, he's so naturally athletic it makes me sick.

Grandpa Joy

We went to see Grandpa today and he was happy to see us. He told the kids some funny stories, and gave them lots of loves. He's lonely, and I hate that I don't get to spend the time with him that he deserves... He did tell me that he knew how much I loved him, and not to worry that I wasn't able to be there more, I don't know why he said that but it made me feel better to know that he knew how I felt. It makes me too sad to think about how much I miss Grandma, and how they used to be together when I was young and would go and stay with them. Grandpa would take us to Riata Pass, and he would dance with me and buy me Shirley Temples and coca~cola. But the thing I loved the most was watching him and Grandma dance all over the floor, Grandma loved it, and man she could dance!

Group dating is always more fun!

The Laurel class planned a group date for this weekend. they met at the Nally's and went to the mall for a scavanger hunt. Some of the tasks were: pose with a Disney character, try on hats, and a picture in the photo booth etc... They ended up at the Nally's for desert, and then Kendra's for games, they had a lot of fun, I think... To be young! Rachel and Matt, Charlee and Stu.

"When I grow up"...

Tonight Emmi had her 3rd grade program, entitled "When I grow up" the children dressed up as the thing they wanted to be when they got old... Emmi wants to be a sailor, according to the script, I am trying not to worry about that, or at least put it into perspective because apparently a lot of kids want to be plumbers, I blame that on the current epidemic called " low-rise" jeans; sporting so much crack.**** All joking aside, Emmi was spectacular with her solo line and her singing and dancing numbers! She is the most beautiful 3rd grader in our family, and the school for that matter, and I have no doubt that she can and will be whatever she wants to be!

A new friend....

The assistant in the classroom I'm in, is amazing, she is a beautiful person inside and out. She has made me feel so comfortable, and welcomed. Her name is Claudia and she is a young mom with 3 girls at the school we're at. She is patient and a very hard worker. We have had a few rough days (some of the children can be pretty challenging), anyway, Claudia makes it a nice place to work. It is so great that she also is fluent in espanol! I am glad to be there, and all of the children are sweet.

Fun..

Something exciting happened to our family, while the girls and I were at young Women's tonight. Stu, ( a good friend of Bug's) came over and set up a treasure hunt which started with Roses and ended with a treasure box on her bed filled with chocolate coins and the question of whether she would go to Prom with him... I know, it's awesome, she was bright red the whole time with an "ear to ear" grin. Not to be boring we hurried and grabbed a big thing of rootbeer, and wrote a note that said; I'd be SODA-lighted to go with you. I think it was almost as exciting for me and the other kids as it was for Charlee. Stu is a great guy, and did a wonderful job on the clues and everything. I can't believe how old I am getting, sometimes I think that I need to hurry and grow up.
